Cards Charging This Week, Shipping Now September
Orders are being locked and cards will be charged this week.
Keep an eye out for an email from BackerKit - it’ll have your final reminder and the ability to modify your order. If anything looks off or you need help, feel free to reach out to us or hit us up in the Discord for support!
We talked tariffs a while back and while they have been temporarily lifted, it still caused a bit of chaos over here at CGHQ.
Our updated shipping estimate is now early September.
PAX East
We got back from an incredible show at PAX East, where Gudnak officially* stole the show.
We hosted two full tournaments, taught hundreds of new players how to throw down on the 3x3, and had folks (literally) lining up just to lose to our beautiful demo staff (who seemingly never get the memo that if you let the new players win they might be more willing to buy the game).
The energy was palpable, the square cards were flying, and honestly Boston will probably never be the same.

The BackerKit Pledge Manager closes on May 16, so make sure you’ve confirmed your order, entered your shipping info, and snagged any extras you want before time runs out.
Pledges locked after May 16 will experience delays in shipping.

Visit players.gudnak.com and log in with Discord to get started.
You can search around the map, look for games online and message folks directly that want to Nak!
Deckboxes Added!
By popular demand, we’ve addedGudnak deckboxes to the Pledge Manager and preorder store! These are custom-designed to hold 2 full, sleeved decks with room for tokens — and they look awesome in person.
These won’t be available via online retail, so if you want one (or two… or seventy three), now is the time to add them to your order.

Get ready for some tariffic updates!
🔥 Pledge Manager Launching! Extended deadline to May 16th
The Pledge Manager is officially rolling out this week! Some of you may get access today via a “smoke test” – a fancy industry term for “making sure Tim didn't mess up more than usual when entering prices."
In the Pledge Manager, you’ll:
- Confirm your shipping address and country
- Upgrade your pledge (especially if you backed at $1)
- Snag discounted booster boxes before they vanish into the post-campaign
Watch your inbox for an email from BackerKit – that’s the service we’re using, since Kickstarter’s new pledge manager didn’t support all the features we needed (like upgrades for $1 backers).
📦 Print Run Size
Because of the ongoing tariff saga, our manufacturing costs have increased significantly. As a result, we’ve made the tough call to cut this print run roughly in half.
This helps us stay financially healthy. It also means post-campaign availability may be very limited for some products. If there’s something you want, the Pledge Manager is the time to get it. If you have friends that are waiting for Gudnak, send them over to the preorder store.
We're obviously not psyched on this, but we're here to make sure Gudnak is around for a long, long time.
💸 Shipping Cost Update
Unfortunately, the tariff news isn’t just impacting production – it’s also nudging shipping rates up.

U.S. backers: Expect your shipping to be about $5–$10 higher than our initial estimates.

International backers: Your rates are still accurate as originally estimated.
We wish it were different! We even tried wishing on a star. We appreciate your understanding as we navigate this moment. If you're looking for a refund as a result of this shipping increase, send us a message.
🎉 Conventions: C2E2 Recap & PAX East!
C2E2 was SO COOL! Huge thanks to everyone who stopped by the booth and especially to the Discord legends who hung out with us.
It was awesome to see so many cool people learn how to 'Nak.
The next con for the cool kids crew is PAX East right in our Boston backyard from May 8–11.
There are still spots left in the Gudnak East Coast 1v1 Championship happening on Thursday, May 8 - if you’re going to be there, come compete for glory and also prizes.

🛠️ Production Timelines
Here’s where things stand: we’re in the final stages of playtesting (translation: A bunch of people breaking our beautiful game), smoothing out the rulebooks, and getting final production quotes all with the aim of pressing print in April.

The preorder store is now LIVE for folks who missed the campaign and want first wave delivery.
- The pledge manager is in final review at BackerKit and should be hitting your inboxes this week or next. You’ll have until the end of April to fill it out.
- We extended the discounted booster box promo to allow for those who missed it to add during pledge manager (still limited to 1x backer!)
The moment we have a production timeline from our manufacturer, we’ll share that info!
📦 Tariffpocalypse 2025: What It Means for Gudnak 💸
So…last week, the U.S. introduced new tariffs on imports from China, which is the place where enterprising bits of cardboard turn into Gudnak. We're still crunching the numbers and doing that thing where you try not to cry and your eye twitches a lot.
Here’s what we know:
- We’re still finalizing shipping rates, and if any increases are necessary, they’ll be reflected when we collect shipping fees for U.S. backers.

If you’d like to cancel or get a refund on your pledge, Kickstarter holds funds for about two weeks post-campaign—once those are released to us, we’ll be able to process requests as needed. Send us a message or email me at [email protected]

Silver lining: if you're a backer, you locked in your copy at the best possible price. The new tariffs will mostly hit future retail buyers, which means you’re basically a time-traveling genius who invested early in cardboard gold. Well played, time traveler.
